From bath salts for menstruation to the latest menstrual discs: A report on my visit to Femtech Tokyo
Hello, everyone.
I am Iguchi from the Social Good Promotion Office, and I recently turned 25!
My hobby is surfing social media, and I love absorbing information about new things.
Last month, I attended an expo that I had been looking forward to immensely!
It was the 1st Femtech Tokyo!
The amount of information was vast, and social media was buzzing with excitement. It was so stimulating that I attended all three days.
As a member of Gen Z, I would like to share some of the products and services that personally caught my attention!
What exactly is a “menstrual bath”!? These bright red bath salts are so cute! 🍎

BloodyBomb: Bright red bath salts infused with plenty of CBD!
Menstruation accounts for approximately 84 days a year. That is about 12 weeks out of 52, or one week every month. While it is a common occurrence that we are used to (though I would rather not have to be!), the issue of bathing during this time is always a concern.

Pre-orders are now being accepted at the online shop starting October 18!
As a menstrual cup user, I can bathe, but I still feel anxious about places like hot springs. Warming the body during menstruation is said to help alleviate menstrual pain. The bathing method created for this purpose is called “menstrual bathing.” It is a wonderful concept!
I discovered disposable menstrual discs!! 👀

Menstrual discs are well-known menstrual products overseas! I had been thinking they were difficult to find in Japan, but I finally encountered them. They can be used for up to 12 hours! These are Japan’s first domestically produced disposable menstrual discs.
I have been using menstrual cups for about four years and am quite used to them, but I have been curious about menstrual discs! They have a larger capacity than cups, and looking at the model, it is interesting because it looks like inserting a giant contact lens. ( ..)φ

Menstrual cups and discs are made of medical-grade silicone, but there are times when even the small effort of washing them is inconvenient (such as during travel or on very busy days). Having disposable options like MOLARA will make things much more comfortable! While biodegradable pads are also increasing, I am excited for a future where development continues with environmental considerations in mind.
There were many other exciting things that I cannot fully introduce here!

Serums and EMS for the intimate area! Vaginal beauty care seems to be a deep field… ✨

Body oil that can also be used as an aromatic candle. 🕯 The gentle scent and warmth are very soothing. ☁

A self-care brand from a bag manufacturer designed to help you walk through the long journey of life at your own pace! A perspective on women’s mobility and femcare…!
I got tired from walking, so I recharged at a rest spot. 🍚

The mentaiko pasta was revitalizing. After all, Tokyo Big Sight is about 2.5 times the size of Tokyo Dome. 👣
Among the talks given by gynecologists at the seminars held within the venue, one particularly impressive point was that “Femtech serves as a bridge between clinics and individuals.“
We are in an era where femcare and femtech products can be purchased at drugstores and online shops, just like medicine or masks. Knowing your own body and practicing self-care will become more accessible, increasing opportunities to notice small signs of poor health that were previously overlooked. I was reminded of how important it is to find a primary care physician you can easily consult with at such times. 💡
There was also a discussion about “distinguishing between femcare and femtech.” It is important to consider whether products are based on evidence-based data. Since femcare and femtech are meant to expand our options, I want to utilize care that is truly necessary for me and technology that allows me to live more comfortably. 💡

I look forward to seeing what kind of evolution will take place by next year! 🐸✨!
