SUNNY SIDE UP’s SDGs initiative, SUNNY FARM, is now underway!
Hello. I am Y from the Corporate Design Office. This time, I would like to introduce our in-house project, “SUNNY FARM,” which has finally begun.
What is the background behind launching this project?
To begin with, the Corporate Design Office is a team that develops content to “strengthen internal communication” and “enhance our company branding,” and disseminates information both internally and externally. For each project, we invite members (mainly younger employees) to participate, and they take the lead in planning and executing initiatives.
Last fiscal year, we created SUNNY SIDE UP’s brand book, “CRACK YOUR EGG?” You can see how it was produced here.

This term, we first held a brainstorming session with the members participating in the project, and a wide range of ideas emerged.
• Launch an in-house radio program
• Hold a flea market
• Produce documentary footage of actual work
• Create an official character
• Achieve a Guinness World Record, etc.
Among the many ideas, the key points in deciding on an initiative were:
• We want more people to know that SSU is a company that promotes the SDGs.
• We want to deepen internal bonds through actions aimed at a shared goal.
• Especially in times like these, we want to create opportunities for everyone to gather.
These were the reasons.
Based on these points, we decided on “SUNNY FARM,” where we would cultivate a field ourselves and carry it through to harvest.
Day 1 of “SUNNY FARM”
As all members are beginners in farming and creating soil from scratch would be a high hurdle, we decided to use a “Share Farm,” which provides tools and an advisor, and signed a contract.
Three of the project members promptly received an explanation from the advisor on how to use the farming tools and more.

After receiving the full explanation, we headed straight to the space we had contracted.
Since this farm offers rental plots only, we walked through the grounds while glancing at vegetables in other plots that were growing large and looked delicious, and we are filled with excitement and anticipation at the thought, “Even beginners can grow them this well…!”

This time was explanation only, but we put up a “SUNNY FARM” sign in our space and wrapped up the first day.

What’s next for “SUNNY FARM”
It will be a new challenge for all of us as farming beginners, but we intend to work hard with the aim of truly experiencing both the difficulty of growing crops ourselves and the joy of harvesting them.
During the spring and summer harvest seasons, we would like employees beyond the project members to join as well, so that everyone can enjoy harvesting together, and we can hold events such as a barbecue using the harvested vegetables—making “SUNNY FARM” something the entire company can enjoy.
*We may even be able to harvest watermelons in summer, so all of us are secretly looking forward to doing a watermelon-splitting activity.
We will continue to post updates on the progress of “SUNNY FARM” (crop growth and event activities) on this blog as well, and we also plan to share updates on note, so please be sure to check them out.
