New Year’s Calligraphy Event Held! Members wrote down their aspirations for the year in their own ways!

Happy New Year, everyone. 🎍 This is Iguchi from the President’s Office / Social Good Promotion Office.

The other day, we held an online “Tiger-themed” first-workday event, and my first task of the year started with creating a Japanese-style room in the office!

SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP’s 2022 begins! Along with the “Kanji of the Year,” each company announces its New Year’s resolutions

This article is a follow-up to our New Year’s event 🐯 We will introduce a generous selection of everyone’s calligraphy, along with photos that reveal each member’s personality.

First, we set up the venue!I scrubbed up and brought my 10-year-old calligraphy set from home. ✊

The main theme is “Kanji of the Year,” but I did not want to be confined by convention, so I chose hiragana instead!

We protected the floor from stains with tatami-style leisure sheets, and blocked ink splatter with a calligraphy-master-style costume, taking care to work safely.

Thank you, Tamako 🐯, for helping with the preparations together with me right up until your battery was about to run out!!

Now then, we would like everyone to write freely and enjoyably, letting their brush move as it will!

And here come SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP’s BIG BOSSes! Each of them put their heart into a single stroke. ✊

SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP President CEO Tsugihara wrote “Stay Sunnyside🍳,” complete with the familiar fried-egg logo.

SUNNY SIDE UP President CEO Kokubo wrote “継” (Kei)—a wonderful stroke befitting a new president.

SUNNY SIDE UP Director Matsumoto wrote “心” (Kokoro). Rie’s beautiful lettering plus the ® makes it adorable.

SUNNY SIDE UP Executive Officer: Director Ikai of Division 1 wrote “基” (Foundation), and Director Morita of Division 2 wrote “柔” (Flexibility). Perfectly done!

Executive Officer: Director Kato of Division 3 wrote “着” (Composure). So calm and steady!

Executive Officer: Director Nakayama of Division 4 wrote “寿し” (Sushi). Add just one more character to “寿” and it becomes delicious.

Executive Officer: Director Kawai of the AP Division wrote “一” (One). Nothing beats simplicity!

SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP Executive Officer Kobayashi wrote “跳” (Leap). So light and lively!

Then, many members who caught the scent of the BIG BOSSes’ ink gathered, and a grand calligraphy tournament began. 👏

Smile Keeper Hirahara wrote “夢” (Dream), and Kobayashi drew a very skillful “Tamako in ink-wash painting style.”

Nakatsuji, who joined in January, wrote “攻” (Attack), and Nakano wrote “笑” (Smile). Thank you for the wonderful strokes right away.

My fellow classmates from the Class of 2020 also contributed a very happy piece! Tajima wrote “Every day is happy! 😊” and Hosoi wrote “✌”—the best.

Please take a look at these adults enjoying themselves in silence for a while.

Finally, Editor Hino, with a master’s expression (?) appears!

From the roughly 40 works gathered, we had them choose an Excellence Award based purely on personal judgment and bias! The selected work is…

Hmm…

This one!

Ta-da!

Masuko from Division 2! “しなやかに” (Supplely). Congratulations on winning the Excellence Award. 🎉

The contrast between the aura of your delicate, mellow beautiful lettering and your usual powerful, wonderful presence earned high praise!

As a small token, we presented a shopping voucher for a “Gao~” brand, in honor of the tiger 🐯. We are cheering for supple Masuko’s continued success.

Was there any calligraphy that caught your eye??? We will be displaying them prominently in the office throughout January, so please be sure to take a look when you visit.

Until then, we look forward to seeing you at the next fun commotion. 👋 Wishing you a wonderful year…!
