Supporting Local Restaurants Through Takeout! Introducing the “Dagayasando” Takeout Lunch Project!

Hello! This is PR Sunny-chan.

As the days of staying at home continue, time at home has finally become a familiar routine. However, many of you may be starting to crave meals from your favorite local restaurants.

In January of this year, SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP launched a lunch project to enjoy the food of Dagayasando while supporting restaurants near our office. Today, we would like to introduce this initiative: the “Dagayasando Takeout Lunch.”

What is the “Dagayasando Takeout Lunch“?

This is an initiative where takeout lunches from Dagayasando (= the Sendagaya and Kita-Sando areas surrounding our office) are sold to our members at the Central Kitchen located within the SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP office.

The restaurants in Dagayasando always give us energy, but many are facing difficult times due to the impact of COVID-19. As the official PR agency for Dagayasando (certified by the Shibuya City Tourism Association), we started this project with the desire to help in any way we can.

Members in the office can enjoy delicious Dagayasando lunches without having to go outside. We select members’ favorite shops and establishments they have been curious about, offering them for sale on a daily rotation!

From the many restaurants in Dagayasando, we would like to introduce five shops that we actually featured for takeout!

【SOWAT】

SOWAT is a Thai takeout and delivery specialist located just a 3-minute walk from Kita-Sando Station.

Chicken Gapao (¥850 incl. tax) / Thai Fried Chicken Rice (¥850 incl. tax)

This is a shop where you can enjoy authentic and stylish Thai cuisine through takeout—flavors that are difficult to replicate at home.

The Gapao rice, topped with generous ingredients, has just the right amount of spice. Breaking the fried egg topping allows you to enjoy a milder flavor as well. One member who purchased it even remarked, “I could eat ten more of these!”

The extensive menu also includes drinks and desserts. We particularly recommend the Thai Lime and Coconut Cheesecake, which is rich yet has a refreshing aftertaste, as a perfect accompaniment to a delicious lunch.

【NYcafe】

NYcafe is located a 3-minute walk from Yoyogi Station.

Lunch Set A (¥600 incl. tax) / Lunch Set B (¥730 incl. tax)

This cafe offers healthy and delicious rice balls, side dishes, and drinks made with carefully selected ingredients, including the superfood “Moringa,” which is expected to have positive effects on beauty and health.

They use Koshihikari rice from Minami-Uonuma, Niigata Prefecture, and reportedly polish both white and brown rice in-store.

Since it opens from 8:30 AM, it is also highly recommended for breakfast.

【Bistro MD】

Bistro MD is an authentic Italian restaurant located a 3-minute walk from Yoyogi Station.

Chicken Nanban Bento (¥700 incl. tax) / Roast Pork Bowl (¥600 incl. tax)

Takeout lunches are now available from this casual yet authentic Italian restaurant that has many fans in the neighborhood! The Chicken Nanban Bento, featuring juicy chicken topped with plenty of tartar sauce, and the Roast Pork Bowl, which offers an exquisite pairing of meat and special ginger sauce, are very popular among members for being filling yet reasonably priced. Please enjoy the heartfelt dishes from Bistro MD, who strive to cook every meal with meticulous care.

【Shanghai Sichuan Cuisine Kokoen】

Shanghai Sichuan Cuisine Kokoen is located very close to the National Noh Theatre. It was established on the former site of “Miroku-an,” which was famous for its “Shogi meals.”

Mapo Tofu Egg Fried Rice Bento / Chinjao Rosu Bento / Shrimp Egg with Chili Sauce Bento (¥650 each incl. tax)

Kokoen offers a wide variety of takeout menus, all of which are very filling! The Chinjao Rosu Bento uses a generous amount of meat, and the rich, bold seasoning makes it hard to stop eating. The small portions of zha cai and seasoned boiled egg included in the corner of the bento are also popular. With cheerful staff always ready to welcome you, it is a Chinese restaurant where you can take home a bit of energy along with your meal.

【Takada-ya Sendagaya Branch】

Takada-ya Sendagaya Branch is located a 2-minute walk from Sendagaya Station, at the bottom of the stairs.

Ten-don (¥780 incl. tax) / Niku Soba (¥690 incl. tax)

This is a soba restaurant where you can taste the only “Goma Soba” (sesame soba) in the country, made with highly nutritious black sesame. For their takeout soba—a rare find—the broth is provided separately, so there is no need to worry about the noodles getting soggy during the commute! We were able to enjoy the hearty Niku Soba even in the office. This is a shop where you can enjoy the commitment to freshly made, freshly boiled, and freshly chilled soba.

Even during the pandemic, takeout meals can turn lunch at home or the office into an exciting time.

Dagayasando is a place where you can find not only delicious food but also the wonderful smiles of the staff. At SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP, we will continue to support the restaurants we love in Dagayasando!
