Hello everyone! This is Koike from SUNNY SIDE UP.

This time, I went undercover at the activity site of the SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP tennis club, commonly known as “Smash.”, which is rumored to be a place where “laughter and sweat never stop”!

What are SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP’s “Club Activities”?

The “Club Activity Support” system is one of SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP’s unique welfare benefits, known as the “32 Benefits.” Aimed at revitalizing communication between members and improving group synergy, it supports the launch and continuation of club activities tailored to members’ various hobbies and preferences, whether outdoor or indoor.

However, as PR professionals, our mission includes sharing information. As seen in this article, members of each club share their activities through our group’s owned media, SUNNY DAYS.

90% of members are beginners!? We pride ourselves on our “low barrier to entry.”

When you hear “tennis club,” do you have an image that you cannot keep up unless you are experienced? Our group’s tennis club, “Smash.”, subverts that image in the best way possible. Surprisingly, almost all of the members are beginners!

There is only one condition for joining: “a desire to enjoy tennis.” It is fine if you do not have a racket or have never held one. We have a wide range of members, from those who dedicated their youth to tennis during their student days to beginners who have never touched a racket in their lives.

In fact, this is a club where beginners who want to learn and those with a gap in their experience take center stage. The charm of “Smash.” is its welcoming atmosphere—the most friendly in the company—where you can participate with pure intentions like wanting to get some exercise or building a new community.

Some members look like they came to play futsal instead!

Feeding practice just like a real club! Feeling like a pro athlete!?

The first half of the activity focuses on the basics. We start with “feeding” practice, just like a serious club activity.

At first, there are many clumsy moments like “Oh, I missed!” or “Wasn’t that a home run?”, but our group members remain positive. Encouraging shouts like “Nice form!” and “That hit sounded great!” fly across the court.

As they hit back each ball seriously yet with a smile, after an hour, everyone is consistently making impressive contact. The speed of improvement might be thanks to the concentration honed in the field of PR.

With dedicated ball boys (volunteer members from our group), you can practice without having to stop to pick up balls.

The second half is a heated practical format! A “Nice shot!” pierces the silence of the night.

After finishing the sweat-inducing “feeding” practice, the second half moves to a match-style practice menu with impromptu pairs! Doubles matches between beginners are a series of unpredictable plays, creating a true state of “fun commotion.”

Teamwork with shouts of “I’ll leave that to you!” and high-fives the moment a point is scored. Members’ bright smiles shine on the blue court illuminated by the night lights.

Is this the main event!? The “Ultimate Review Session”

Furthermore, the activities of “Smash.” do not end on the court. After working up a pleasant sweat, everyone heads to a reward time known as the “review session” with beers in hand!

Naturally, tennis-related talk such as “That volley was a miracle!” or “I want to strengthen my serve next time” never comes up. Instead, topics range widely from work to recent personal interests. Regardless of department or seniority, talking over a delicious beer brings everyone closer together—perhaps even more so than our coordination on the court.

This ability to switch between “on” and “off” mode may be the secret to why our group members can always keep running at full speed. It is so much fun that I forget to take photos every time!

Would you like to join us for a “nice shot”?

The SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP tennis club “Smash.” is always looking for new members! It is perfectly fine if you do not own a racket or know the rules. All you need is the curiosity to “have fun working up a sweat and enjoy a delicious beer!” Work hard and play hard. Why not spend the best “SUNNY DAYS” with us?
