Learning PR-Driven Marketing Through Practice: Meiji University Special Lecture on Business Administration | Lecture Report
Hello! This is Sunny-chan from Public Relations. 🍳
At SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP, various members speak at conferences and lectures to share the PR and communication philosophies that our group values with the outside world.
This report covers our annual special lecture for university students 👀
Xiqiao Liu, President and Representative Director of SUNNY SIDE UP, spoke at a special lecture on Business Administration at Meiji University’s Surugadai Campus!
Visiting an Elite Special Class at Meiji University’s Surugadai Campus
The assigned class is a small, seminar-style special class themed “Experiencing the Mechanisms of Startup Management,” where students learn everything up to the business operation process after founding a company. The students’ enthusiasm was high, and the atmosphere in the classroom was serious from the very beginning!

Xiqiao began the lecture by saying, “Today, rather than acting as a teacher, I want this to be a time for us to think together,” and the session proceeded through dialogue.

“Marketing is Management Itself” — A Session to Learn Everything from Definition to Practice
At the beginning of the lecture, Xiqiao shared her personal experiences with marketing while touching upon her career to date. She then asked the students, “What is marketing?” and deepened the definition while drawing out their ideas.

The answer Xiqiao provided was: “Creating a mechanism that allows products to keep selling.”
Marketing is not just about advertising and promotion, but about designing the “structure of continuous sales” itself, which is why it is directly linked to management. The students seemed convinced by this essential perspective.
Experiencing PR-Driven Marketing Through Case Studies and Workshops!
From here, the session moved into a practical segment based on specific cases.

She spoke about the excitement of building mechanisms with a PR mindset, using examples such as brands that achieved re-growth in mature markets, initiatives that drove demand by first creating a certain “atmosphere” in society, and products that established entirely new markets.
During the workshop, time was set aside for students to think about and present “How would I build a strategy?” Aspiring entrepreneurs raised their hands one after another, and the classroom became as lively as a strategic planning meeting. 👏
Even during the Q session after the lecture, there were many insightful questions regarding how to find insights and the logic behind decision-making.
Finally, words of encouragement were offered to the students, while also mentioning that SUNNY SIDE UP goes beyond the boundaries of PR to engage in business creation and marketing support.

The post-lecture lunch session with students is also becoming an annual tradition.
This year was once again a profound learning experience through dialogue with the students. We would be delighted if this lecture provided hints for the challenges ahead for everyone at Meiji University!
See you in the next report! 🍳✨
