Hello! I am Kawamura from the Public Relations department of SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP.

Recently, seven second-year students from Mita International Science Academy Junior High School visited the SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP office. This initiative is part of the school’s “Career Inquiry” program, designed to deepen their understanding of PR and communication professions.

In line with the school’s focus on English education and fostering an international perspective, they selected SUNNY SIDE UP as their destination to study global PR and experience real-world social connections.

We welcomed them with the hope that they would find inspiration in our initiatives, which involve diverse domestic and international brands and projects through a global PR and communication lens.

On the day of the visit, Kawamura from PR and Executive Officer Kokubo guided the students, sharing insights into our work, philosophy, and how our members work through a company introduction, Q session, and office tour.

About “Mita International Science Academy,” renamed in April 2025

Mita International Science Academy is a combined junior and senior high school that changed its name from “Mita International School” this April. With an education centered on scientific literacy, it aims to foster the ability of each student to think, act, and engage with society independently.

This visit was also conducted as part of that educational framework.

Mita International Science Academy values connections with the real world through its core inquiry-based learning activities. By observing our office and members up close, we believe the students were able to naturally perceive how their classroom learning connects to society.

In response to the “Science, Technology, and Innovation Nation” vision promoted by Keidanren (Japan Business Federation), such interactions with corporations are gaining attention as initiatives that support the learning and growth of the next generation.

Sharing the origins of “Let’s Have Fun!” during the company introduction

We began by introducing the history and business activities of SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP.Centered on our founding vision, “Let’s Have Fun!”, we used videos and slides to explain how we engage with society through PR and communication.

PR and communication at SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP aim not just to disseminate information, but to move people’s hearts and lead to positive changes in society.

The students listened with fresh surprise, remarking, “So this is what PR work is all about.”

Insightful questions from students during the Q session

In the following QA session, the students asked a variety of questions.

“What is PR?” “What are the challenges facing the PR industry?” “What initiatives are you taking for social contribution?”

Kokubo and Kawamura answered these questions thoroughly, providing specific examples.

The students nodded deeply as they learned how PR and communication are connected to various global issues and how the industry requires constant updates.

The statement “PR and communication only create value when people’s hearts are moved” seemed to leave an impression, and it was inspiring to see them listening intently while taking notes.

Experiencing the “workplace” during the office tour

Afterward, the students toured the office where our members actually work.
We guided them through spaces designed for diverse work styles based on purpose and mood, such as the “Central Kitchen”—created with the hope of being a place where many colleagues and ideas gather to generate new concepts—and quiet areas for focused work.

“In this space, I feel like I could express my opinions freely” and “Working looks like fun.”
Hearing such comments, it seemed they were able to experience the atmosphere and culture of our workplace.

Building relationships through “communication”

The essence of PR and communication is not merely “conveying information,” but building “desirable relationships” between an organization and the people around it. The core of PR and communication lies in the attitude of engaging in continuous two-way communication while listening to the voices of others.

We would be pleased if this visit provided an opportunity for them to reflect on what it means to communicate and what it means to build relationships.

We hope that the experience of this day will serve as a hint to expand their future options and lead to a day when they play an active role in creating “fun and excitement.”

Thank you for visiting, everyone from Mita International Science Academy! All our members look forward to the day we might meet again.
