As the cold days continue, the Christmas season is gradually approaching 🎄

This year, SUNNY SIDE UP is once again handling PR for illuminations and Christmas events across various locations.

In this article, we’ll introduce plenty of notable outing spots being held in Tokyo 💡 You’re sure to find a spot you want to visit. Please use this as a reference for your winter outings!

CHRISTMAS HILLS 2024

First up is “CHRISTMAS HILLS 2024.” True to its name “Christmas at Five Hills,” Roppongi Hills, along with Azabudai Hills, Toranomon Hills, Omotesando Hills, and Ark Hills, come together to host Christmas events.

Among these, we’ll introduce the Christmas festivities at “Roppongi Hills,” “Azabudai Hills,” and “Toranomon Hills.”

Roppongi Hills “Roppongi Hills Christmas 2024”

First, we’ll introduce the Christmas event at Roppongi Hills. The “Keyakizaka Illumination,” which has become a winter tradition, envelops visitors in a fantastical scene of “SNOW BLUE” lights evoking a silver world ⭐️

Additionally, “ROPPONGI HILLS Christmas Market 2024,” which recreates an authentic German Christmas, is currently being held. You can enjoy German Christmas items and food that will delight you just by looking at them.

Furthermore, original Christmas cards are being distributed within Roppongi Hills. This is a project called “wish a wish ~A Happy Christmas Message to Someone Special~” where you can write a message to someone important, post it in a special mailbox, and the letter will be delivered one year later at Christmas. Why not send a message to someone special—family, a loved one, friends—or even to yourself? 💌

Azabudai Hills | Azabudai Hills Christmas 2024

Azabudai Hills is also hosting the Christmas event “Azabudai Hills Christmas 2024.” In the central plaza, “Azabudai Hills Christmas Market 2024” is being held, where an iconic illuminated gate welcomes visitors 🌟

In the plaza, 17 shops are open, including the German Christmas goods store “Käthe Wohlfahrt,” the butcher shop “GOOD GOOD MEAT” specializing in grass-fed beef perfect for health-conscious customers, and the popular chocolate specialty store “Minimal -Bean to Bar Chocolate-” which also has a location in Azabudai Hills. Additionally, a fir tree with five types of lighting appears to add color to Azabudai Hills’ Christmas.

Furthermore, the food hall “Azabudai Hills Market” lineup has also changed to a Christmas theme. A rich selection of takeout menus and sweets perfect for Christmas parties, such as roast chicken and cakes, are available 🍰

Toranomon Hills | TORANOMON HILLS CHRISTMAS 2024

At the Christmas event “TORANOMON HILLS CHRISTMAS 2024” being held at Toranomon Hills, a giant boombox over 3 meters tall has appeared as an experiential installation where you can enjoy music that colors Christmas. During the period, sofas and other seating are set up in the Station Atrium, creating a lounge space where anyone can relax while enjoying music 🎵

Furthermore, limited gourmet items such as Christmas cakes and hors d’oeuvres that elegantly color the holy night appear at each commercial store, and throughout Toranomon Hills, the facility’s official character “Toranomon” welcomes visitors in a special design. The entire Toranomon Hills facility is celebrating Christmas ✨

Shibuya Scramble Square | CHRISTMAS LOVERS! —I Just Love Christmas Too Much.

Numerous Christmas events are also being held in the Shibuya-Omotesando area. At Shibuya Scramble Square, a Christmas fair is being held under the theme “CHRISTMAS LOVERS!—I Just Love Christmas Too Much.”

At the Christmas market featuring shops symbolizing the “love” of LOVERS who pursue “love” from various angles, items you can only buy here are gathered, including Christmas wreaths, snow globes, and playing cards. You can enjoy shopping with a treasure-hunting spirit.

A special ZINE focusing on the shops at the Christmas market is also being distributed. The nine types of ZINEs introduce plenty of recommended Christmas items available at Shibuya Scramble Square, so you’re sure to find your favorite items 👀

Furthermore, in front of the entrance on the second basement floor of the facility, an “HTT Christmas Tree” is installed. The tree shines during the period using electricity generated by walking on the “power-generating floor” that was installed until early November 🎄

By the way, “HTT” is an action toward a decarbonized society through outreach to Tokyo residents and businesses by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, taken from the initials of “Reduce (H) electricity, Create (T), Store (T).”

Tokyu Plaza Omotesando “Omokado” | OMOHARA Christmas illumination

At Tokyu Plaza Omotesando “Omokado,” illuminations imagining a “forest where stars fall” are lit on the rooftop terrace “Omohara no Mori,” the symbol of the facility. It expresses the scene of many shooting stars falling in the center of the Omotesando-Harajuku area, with ornaments of polar bears and reindeer also appearing 🎅

Shibuya Hikarie | This is “Kyun” Christmas!

Shibuya Hikarie’s 2024 Christmas theme is “This is ‘Kyun’ Christmas! —Believe in Your Own Kyun and Live.” It’s a theme for women who are sensitive to things that make their hearts flutter and don’t miss those moments ♡

In addition to the installation of a “receipt photo machine” where you can take commemorative photos with a frame featuring HikariELF, the facility’s original character and Christmas fairy, limited products such as “Shiawase Sablé (Food Print) 3-piece set” and “HikariELF’s Swaying Tumbler (5 types)” are also on sale.

On the café and restaurant floor, the “Hoppe no Christmas Surprise Gourmet” fair is being held, featuring a full lineup of special Christmas menus. You can warm both body and soul with dishes that will make you go “Kyun” 🍽️

GINZA SIX | Rooftop Star Skating Rink

This winter, a skating rink appears for a limited time at GINZA SIX’s Garden (rooftop garden).

This year’s GINZA SIX Christmas theme is “HEAVENLY GIFT—A Gift from the Universe.” Throughout the facility, collage visuals created by graphic artist Keiji Ito enhance the Christmas atmosphere.

At the entrance, a giant snow globe “BIG CAT GIFT” featuring “SHIP’S CAT” dressed as Santa and a reindeer floating in the air welcomes guests, and in the center of the rooftop skating rink, Kenji Yanobe’s “SHIP’S CAT (Ultra Muse / Red)” is installed 🪐

Tokyu Plaza Ginza (The Mint Ginza) | Illumination Projection Mapping

At “The Garden” inside the rooftop café and bar “The Mint Ginza” on the rooftop of Tokyu Plaza Ginza, wall greenery illuminations appear. In the center of the vast space with illuminations approximately 10 m high and covering about 430 m², a giant wreath photo spot also appears. Why not take a photo as a winter memory? 📸

Furthermore, projection mapping under the theme “A Winter Night in Ginza Full of Stories” is also displayed poolside at “The Lounge.” Please enjoy the wonderful space woven by light and text floating in the night sky of Ginza.

Decks Tokyo Beach | Odaiba Illumination “YAKEI”

At Decks Tokyo Beach, “Odaiba Illumination ‘YAKEI’,” which colors Odaiba’s night scenery year-round with the approximately 20 m tall Daiba Memorial Tree and approximately 100,000 lights, is being held. The best location with a panoramic view of Tokyo Bay’s night scenery, including Tokyo Tower and Rainbow Bridge, is perfect for winter outings ❄️

Furthermore, at the art spot on the 3rd floor Seaside Terrace of the facility, winter-limited illuminations incorporating “blue,” imagining the Odaiba sea, make a special appearance. They add even more romance to the Odaiba scenery ✨
