While there are still some warm days, it is the season when you cannot help but want to wear the new autumn clothes you just bought… 🍂

With the arrival of a new season, the annual event that SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP members look forward to each year—the “SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP Job Offer Ceremony”—has arrived once again.

Preparing to welcome them with excitement

Every year, members start brainstorming before summer—excited yet 고민 about how to welcome our future colleagues. This year’s job offer ceremony was decided to be held on the 7th floor of the Sendagaya office, which was just renovated last December!

It is a new area popular for its spacious free-address workspace, highlighted by the striking neon sign of our slogan, “Let’s Have Fun.”

The day has finally arrived!

This year again, a record number of prospective hires arrived at the office one after another! Seeing everyone’s faces gathered together once more only heightens the excitement. Some members entered looking a little nervous, but seemed relieved to meet the peers they will be spending time with from now on…?

Before the ceremony, it was time to eat! A lunch gathering began with not only the prospective hires, but also attending executives and senior colleagues.

We held it with the hope that casual conversation over food and drinks would help everyone relax as much as possible before the ceremony 🍽️

Everyone looks happy in front of a meal—both the prospective hires and the senior members alike.

With everyone satisfied and the atmosphere warmed up, the ceremony began.

First, the presentation of the job offer certificates and commemorative gifts. Here, we will introduce the items we presented this year.

[Job offer certificate inspired by an employee ID card]

We created a job offer certificate inspired by the employee ID card that every SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP member always carries.

For this year’s job offer ceremony, we designed each program with a focus on conveying a strong sense of “welcome,” and ensuring that prospective hires would feel, “I am looking forward to working at this company with my peers and senior colleagues.”

By using the design of the employee ID card that would normally be handed out after joining the company in April, we expressed our desire to welcome them as members of SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP. In addition, by incorporating elements unique to the Class of 2025 into the same design as the official employee ID card, we believe it became a playful design that is true to SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP.

We envisioned it as a story: after joining, when they replace it with the official employee ID card, it becomes a switch from student to working professional.

They were then presented in an anniversary item—an “original neck strap”—for SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP, which will celebrate its 40th anniversary next year.

It is also a favorite item among our in-house members, who use it as a strap for their employee IDs and phones.

An original bottle created as an item for the “Sustainable Support Program,” one of our unique employee benefits, the “32 Benefits.”

This item is a high-performance stainless-steel bottle, “Revomax,” featuring SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP’s signature sunny-side-up egg and a jersey number design based on our nickname, “Sunny.” Members use it in their daily lives in the hope of reducing plastic waste, even if only a little.

These items, filled with our thoughts, were presented as job offer certificates and commemorative gifts by Etsuko Tsugihara, President CEO of SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP Inc.

With a tense look, yet an expression of slight relief…?

After the presentation to everyone was complete, representatives from each company gave their greetings.

We shared a message with the prospective hires who will become our colleagues starting next April: that we are eagerly looking forward to creating movements in society together in the future, and that we hope they will take on experiences they can only have now before joining the company and make them nourishment for the rest of their lives.

It was impressive to see the prospective hires listening with their eyes fixed straight ahead—expressions that seemed to convey their determination for what lies ahead.

After the job offer ceremony… a roundtable discussion with senior members

And then, finally, it was time for the last program of the day.

A roundtable discussion began in which nine senior members with different careers participated—from first-year new graduates to mid-career hires close in age to the prospective hires—speaking candidly about everything from work to private life. The seniors answered questions with full commitment, including what first-year work is like and how they are involved in projects, all related to life at SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP starting in April!

Along the way, we also included a self-introduction segment from department heads who came to observe, and the roundtable concluded after running past the scheduled end time.

The purpose of this roundtable was to help them get to know the members working at SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP, clear up any lingering uncertainties and questions they may have, and increase the clarity of what it will be like after joining—so they would feel, “I am looking forward to working at this company with these people.”

There were even moments where they asked about residential areas and rent in preparation for life in Tokyo starting this spring…! Important topics, indeed.

And with that, the day of the job offer ceremony—long yet short—came to an end.
